may day

i'm just leaving for work, and in the evening i'll go to celebrate may day (called 'vappu' in finland) which originally meant labour day, but nowadays it's just another excuse for the finns to get extremely pissed. you should see what it's like today on the streets, it's ridiculous. or then again, you probably shouldn't see it, it's not that impressive. but what i like about may day, is the fact that i'll get to dress up all summer-y and use my graduation hat (this is the only day of the year, basically, when people don't look funnily at you when walking down the streets with it on). and plus, this year the weather is absolutely beautiful, so why not go out, and celebrate a little?
